I have an exciting announcement to make!

(((Drumroll, please…!)))

…dramatic pause…

I am writing a book!

An e-book, anyway. (Yay for the modern wonder of digital self-publishing!)

And what is my book about, you ask? What else? How to buy healthy food on a budget! They say you should write about what you know… and I definitely know a lot about that.

Here’s a snippet from the Introduction:

I know all about tight budgets and out-of-control grocery spending. I've been on an incredibly tight budget for several years now, despite an increased number of mouths to feed, and dietary restrictions on the part of several family members. I have experienced those guilty feelings when I try to balance my budget concerns with my desire to feed my family healthy food, and one or the other ends up giving way. It is like a tight rope walk sometimes, that balance!

That's why I wrote this book: to help you find that balance of staying in budget while feeding your family the healthiest food you possibly can. You won't find any guilt or judgment here, not from me! Only suggestions and encouragement to help you do the best you can with the resources you have.

In these "lean years" that I've experienced, I've learned a thing or two about managing the grocery budget and keeping it in line. Since others were generous enough to share their knowledge with me, it is only right that I share my knowledge with you!

This book will be a comprehensive resource for you, whatever kind of grocery budget you have! It’s a virtual toolbox with all you need to save money on groceries, prioritizing your money to get the best possible food for the best possible price.

Here’s a general outline to give you an idea of the things to come:

  1. Part I: Budget (how to make one, what you can afford on your budget, a sample $250/month budget, and more)
  2. Part II: Price List (what it is, how it helps, how to make one, how to maintain)
  3. Part III: Sourcing (a comprehensive review of sources – online and brick-and-mortar – for inexpensive healthy food)
  4. Part IV: Once-a-Month Shopping (maximizing your budget by shopping once a month)
  5. Part V: MIY (foods you can make yourself and save money)
  6. Part VI: Coupons (how to use coupons for healthy food)
  7. Part VII: Tricks & Tips (frugal hacks from the Depression and WWII eras to the modern age of internet and social media)
  8. Special Section: Saving Money on Special Diet Foods
If you’re an old-fashioned kinda girl (or guy), I’m going to have printables available for you that will help you in organizing all the information you need to save money on your groceries. And if you’re a digital girl like me, I’m going to fill this baby with links to all kinds of websites and blogs that will help you trim your budget at lightening speed!
And of course, since this book is all about celebrating your inner cheapskate, there’s no way I would charge you the moon and the sky for it. (Even if it is a lot of work!) The price will be $4.99. About what you’d pay for a venti mocha splurge, less than you’d pay for a movie at the theatre, and only slightly more than a pound of butter (depending on where you shop and what kind of butter you buy, that is.). Totally worth it, if I do say so myself.
And if you don’t want to pay that much, then come like my Grocery Budget Toolbox page on Facebook, because when the book is available, I will be introducing it on Facebook exclusively at first! So Facebook “likers” will have first dibs on it, and at a reduced price, too! Facebook fans will have access to the book for only $2.49, until I make it available to the general public here on the blog.
I really really really would love for you to like the Grocery Budget Toolbox Facebook page, because I need your input as I continue writing this e-book. I need your help! I need to know what questions you have about saving money on groceries, and I need your ideas for saving money – because I know you have some good ones.
And one more thing: I’ve set up a board on Pinterest where I’ll be pinning some randomly chosen resources mentioned in the book, to give you a taste of what it will be. Go ahead: check out the Grocery Budget Toolbox Pinterest Board! Be sure to follow it so you don’t miss a thing.
