What’s that you say? You had no idea that March 8 was International Women’s Day? I wouldn’t have either, except that I lived in Russia as a teenager (my dad was a missionary there), and learned all about this holiday that was initiated in that country back in the early twentieth century.

Although it is an international holiday, it has its roots in the socialist movement, which is why it hasn’t been hugely popular here in the States until recently. I will refrain from commenting on whether that is because Americans are becoming more socialist or because the holiday is losing touch with its roots.

Suffice it to say, I am not a socialist, nor a feminist. But I think it’s kind of cool to have a women’s day, especially since it’s typically celebrated by men honoring the women in their life with flowers and other small gifts and tokens of their appreciation. Sure, we have Mother’s Day… but not every woman is a mother, and every woman deserves some special recognition!

So for the rest of March, I’m going to focus particularly on topics of interest to women. We’ll cover physical health and nutrition topics specific to women, like PMS and pregnancy, as well as emotional and spiritual health… because women are spiritual and emotional beings, and if we aren’t well in those areas, we wont’ be well physically either! That’s why I’m calling the series “Women’s Wellness”.

I’ve got a guest post or two lined up for you, some great recipes (even a healthy way to satisfy that chocolate craving!), and a giveaway, too!

To make sure you don’t miss any of the fun, be sure to:
