This month’s focus in “Eating Intentionally“* is on “Making Peace with Food“; or in my words, just enjoying it. Food is made for both our nourishment and enjoyment, and we often lose sight of that.

It’s counter-productive to stress out all the time about whether what we’re eating is healthy or good for us or not. Granted, if we never took into consideration the nourishment (or lack thereof…) of the food we eat, we would be in a sorry state indeed. But  neither should we go to the other extreme and over-analyze every morsel we put into our mouths.

It is wise to craft a philosophy of food, so to speak, a framework that guides you through your food choices during the day; but once you’ve put the thought and research into your own personal philosophy, don’t spend a great deal of time fussing over what you will or will not eat. Just eat, and enjoy!

Stay tuned this week because I have some pretty fun things going on to continue our Women’s Wellness series: a book review, a giveaway, a healthy and delicious St Patty’s Day treat, and a guest post! Fun stuff! Subscribe if you haven’t already, so you can be sure you don’t miss any of it.

In My Kitchen Today

*My concept of “Eating Intentionally”, and the 10 principles we are working through this year, come from the book “Intuitive Eating” by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch. I highly recommend it – I don’t agree with everything in it, but it is a great read for anybody who has ever been on a diet and/or is considering going on a diet.
