Weekend Take Out Fake Out: Sweet and Sour Pork Posted: 18 Aug 2012 07:49 PM PDT The girls love to go out to eat but sometimes on the weekend this busy Mom on the Run just likes to stay in. I have gotten pretty good about creating dishes that simulate some of their restaurant favorites. What is nice about these dishes is that I get to control the ingredients so we can make it dietary restriction friendly (currently gluten and as much as possible dairy free). This recipe creation is a play on that gooey orange/red sauce that accompanies chicken fingers. The girls loved it especially because I served it with MOTR Fried Rice. Sweet and Sour Pork Chops Created by: Mom on the Run Ingredients:
Preparation: In a large sauce pan combine orange juice, soy sauce, ginger, and plum sauce. Heat sauce on low, stirring frequently until thickened. While sauce is cooking, create a pork breading station. I use the Pampered Chef Coating Trays to get this task done. First, dip the pork into the bread crumbs. Next, dip the breaded pork into the egg mixture. Last, re-dip the pork into the bread crumbs until chop is fully coated. Heat large skillet with oil. Place each chop into the hot skillet browning each side for 4-5 minutes until pork is cooked through. Turn off heat when pork is cooked through, and add reserved sauce to skillet. Let sauce mingle with pork. Serve each piece of pork with rice and veggie of choice. Enjoy your take out from the comfort of you own kitchen. Hope everyone is having a restful weekend! |
