Yesterday was day 7 in the 12 days of Christmas presents that I am doing for my husband.
As the numbers get higher, I am having more problems trying to find presents that fit with the numbers!
I decided to make spiced nuts – with 7 different kinds of nuts.
Note – this recipe can be made with any number of nuts – I just used the ones I liked best. You can even buy mixed nuts, and add in any nuts you would like!
{Seven} Spiced Nuts

1 cup of pistachios
1 cup of hazelnuts
1 cup of brazil nuts
1 cup of whole almonds
1 cup of cashews
1 cup of pecan halves
1/2 cup of peanuts
2 tbsp margarine
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp cardamom
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp smoked paprika
1/4 tsp cayenne
1 tsp salt
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
In a large bowl, combine all the nuts. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the brown sugar and margarine. Once melted, add in the spices. Stir until combine.
Pour the spice mixture over the nuts, until everything is coated.
Add salt – if your nuts were already salted, you might not need salt. Some of mine were raw nuts, so I needed a good amount of salt. Taste – and make any changes to the spices before you put it in the oven.
Place on a baking sheet sprayed with nonstick spray.
Bake for 5 minutes --- then stir the nuts. Place back in the oven for 5 more minutes.
Let cool completely.
Enjoy!
Question: Are you ready for Christmas? I think I am!
