We are unaware of many cosmetic sources of bisphenol A 0r BPA, such as plastic bottles and epoxy resin lining of aluminum containers. Plastic bottles leach phthalates into acid-containing products especially if these products were formulated with high amounts of essential oils. In my own experience, one of the suppliers sent an essential oil in a polyvinyl chloride (PVC, plastic #3) bottle. The bottle came all soft and mottled, and I didn't dare even think how much vinyl chloride, a human carcinogen, have leached into the oil.
