Help Me Organize My Spices!!!

Posted: 05 Jan 2012 12:18 PM PST

my spice rack

Was organization one of your resolutions for 2012? It wasn’t specifically on my list of resolutions (ahem, if I had a list of resolutions…), but it’s something I’m always working on, always developing. My organization systems are constantly being revamped to adjust to my changing needs and schedule.

Take my shelf of spices for example. When I first organized my cupboards upon moving into this apartment, I took great care in developing the organization of all my different foods and supplies, including my spice rack. At first glance (see picture above), it doesn’t look all that bad.

But when you remove all the large spice canisters from the front, the Leaning Tower of Spice Tubs is revealed. Totally inadequate! And totally annoying! (And kind of embarrassing…)

And then a side view of my current spice rack will reveal that it is also completely inefficient and unorganized. Getting to those teeny tiny little bottles in the very back is a huge pain in the neck, and something I try not to do very often.

Any time I cook or bake, I have to move my spices all around to find the ones I need. I am definitely in need of some new spice racks! The thing is, I’m sort of at a loss as to what to do.

I recently discovered the huge variety of kitchen spice racks at Spice Rack Source. I think they have pretty much any kind of spice rack you would ever want!

I am very interested in this one:

It looks like it would perfectly solve all my problems. BUT (and this is a big but, no pun intended) it’s $48. While I think that’s a fair price for the perfect solution to my spice storage issues, I have some kitchen wishes and dreams a little higher on the priority list that will get the benefit of any extra money before spice storage does.

So… do any of you brilliant people have a suggestion for me? How could I re-organize my spices so they are more accessible without breaking the bank? Is there a way I could replicate the storage solution above without investing any money? Or at least not as much? Or should I just save my shekels?

If you have an idea for me, I’ll see if I can pull it off, and if it works for me. If it does, I’ll post about it and put your name in lights! Or at least in big letters on my blog post. You’ll be famous!

So. Whatcha got for me?

This is a sponsored post. Unfortunately, my spice rack situation is nevertheless very real, and I definitely need your help.
